look at me....I'm...posting!

Can you believe I'm actually posting something?

Maybe-maybe-maybe one day I'll go back and recap the last YEAR...but maybe I'll just pick up from here.  I thought I'd write about my weekend..a couple weekends ago.  Noah was invited to a birthday party in Ann Arbor so I decided Lucy and I would have a little date while he was there.  We had a great time.  We went to one of my favorite lunch places, Frita Batidos.  Fritas are delicious burgers and Batidos are milkshakes...like the best you've ever had.  The lime is my favorite.  After lunch we walked around the shopping district and saw lots of interesting things.  We drove all over creation looking for her favorite flavor of Jelly Belly-grapefruit.  She told me she likes candy that's rare.  She also asked me if we could start a book club.  So we read Swindle over the weekend, we had a meeting where we took turns asking each other the discussion questions.  She suggested we each make a snack.  I made brownies, she made crackers with cream cheese and salami/pickle rollups.  It was pretty much the best thing ever.  Then we watched the movie.  The movie was terrible and she kept saying, "this is nothing like the book!"  I've raised the best girl ever.  I love 9.

Oh-and on the birthday party-are parents supposed to stay?!  The invitation did not indicate parents were supposed to stay, but they all did...except me.  Why not tell me?  Then, they didn't open gifts...is that a thing?  When I was a kid-that was part of the party-watching the kid open the gifts.  What's the deal?

Some sewing projects

I've sewn a few things over the last few months I thought I'd share.

This cute Fox Stuffy for Annie's Birthday

A Pencil Case for Lucy to take to school...she wanted woodland and undersea animals.

This disappearing nine-patch quilt for my sweeter-than-sweet niece.  I especially love the striped binding.

These Russian Nesting purses...geez I love these...I learned to paper piece on this project.

This super cute makeup bag.  The inside is lined with the mint/gold fabric from the tabs.

I can't pick a favorite, I loved them all.

Lucy's 8th Birthday

Lucy turned 8 this year, which is pretty significant in the LDS world.
It means she's old enough to be baptized.
Her day was so special
It was full of the Spirit. Hope. Family. Friends. Love.
It's a day I will never forget, even if Lucy doesn't remember the details I hope she'll remember the love she felt.

We also celebrated with breakfast in bed and a friend party at Pump-It-Up, Corned Beef at Bode's, a BB gun, and a family dinner with the Vos crew.

Soccer Season 2015

Lucy and Noah enjoyed another fall season of soccer.
Their favorite position was goalie.
They both had awesome coaches.
We love DACA.

Fair 2015

The kids were all about the rides this year...they humored me through the animal barns and I went alone into the 4-H barn.  We had a busy week that week and couldn't make it on a day with the demo derby, next year.  They had so much fun going on the rides, they saved their money and bought bracelets so they could ride as much as they wanted.  They must have done the obstacle course style house about 50 times.  Noah was so brave to go with Lucy on the Gravitron style ride, I don't know what they call it anymore.  When he got off, ever the optimist, I asked him if he had fun and he enthusiastically said, "I didn't like it!" with a smile on his face.
