The one that started with a ruffle...

I saw this really cute skirt the other day, it had a gorgeous ruffle down the side, it was a beautiful brown color. It inspired me to learn how to sew a ruffle, plus Tony was gone so I had some time to make a huge mess. I looked online for instructions, and then realized I needed to make the ruffle into something, so I found instructions for a simple toddler skirt. It was fun and very satisfying. Once I was finished, I realized the skirt needed something to go with it, so I found this tutorial on making fabric flowers and I sewed it to a little barrette and that was that. There are so many fabric flower tutorials out there and some are quite elegant, I think I'm going to experiment with them next. Maybe a bunch of roses on a headband-wouldn't that be cute? I'd really LOVE to get an overlock machine to be able to do more professional looking hems. Someday. There is something about creating something that was once just a bunch of fabric, taking up space in Lucy's closet that is peaceful and exhilarating.

You go girl! That is so adorable. I am really impressed at your ability to just learn something new and dig right in. I wish I had more of that in me. Way to go.

Oh, and by the way, I love demolition derbies too. :o)

Look at you . No longer that timid "me? sew?" girl of a few years ago! I am proud of your stick-to-it-ness and adventurous soul. I wish I could just pop over and you could pop over here. I love you, Anna! MOm
