C is for cozy.

Why has it taken me so long to make one of these?

I found the pattern on Ravelry by Theresa Grant.

The way to a man's heart...

The Menu:
Caprese Salad
Anti Pasta Salad
The Pioneer Woman's Crash Hot Potatoes-make these the first chance you get-seriously, wow.
The elusive California Tri-Tip
Dove Cashew Caramel Bars.

And that's how we say Happy Father's Day around here.

And how did this...

 turn into this?

I ask you, what is better than being silly with your friends in the summertime?

I love the picture on the bottom, right middle...Lucy's head is leaning into her can tell she loves her.  And the funny faces...totally their idea.

Remember this?

Photography is an interesting hobby for me.  I enjoy documenting the things we do, but I don't care to take pictures of things for art's sake.  I want the pictures of the people and places I love to be beautiful, but I'm not drawn to take my camera out on a nice day just to take pictures.  Actually-that sounds nice, so maybe I would do that if I had more time.  I like to edit photos and make them look as best I can.  Some day I would like to get a DSLR, but in the mean time, I found a dinosaur at a garage sale.  I found an old Olympus SLR.  I thought it might be fun to learn on, if I could find film.  I was happy to find that it is still sold and processed.  Tony found the manual online for me and I've tinkered around with it a little bit.  I finished my first roll of film yesterday afternoon and am going to take it in today to see what turns out.  I was surprised at just how foreign the idea of film has become.  I can only take 24 pictures?  I can't see what is on them until I get the disc back?  I can not wait.

Congratulations Emily!

I'm having a hard time accepting that my oldest niece is going to be a Freshman in high school.  Today, she graduated from 8th grade and I feel like she just entered middle school.  She looked beautiful and graceful as she accepted her awards and diploma.  Graduations make me cry, be they preschool, 5th grade, 8th's all the nostalgia; thinking about growing out of one school and into a larger one with more responsibility and bigger challenges, and looking back on all they have accomplished.  She will do great in high school, and it too, will go by way too fast.  Enjoy it, Ems and GO WILD CATS!

Lucy meets Blaze

Friday night I was surprised to see Fireflies out already.  Since the kids aren't out of school yet, it doesn't seem like Summer.  Tony caught one for Lucy and she named it Blaze after Tinkerbell's friend.  I thought she'd get upset when it was time to let it go but she was eager for him to return to his family.

Has anyone ever eaten....

Those really weird ice cream flavors?  I've recently seen lavender and basil as ice cream flavors and while I love the way basil tastes and lavender smells, I don't think they would make good ice cream.  Weird flavors just seem gimmicky.  Am I wrong?  Are they truly wonderful?  Do they taste as good as cookies n' cream?

catch up

I don't usually like an all-in-one "catch up" post, but I think that's what's happening here.  It seems like the last couple weeks have been busy.  Last week, after work on Friday, we packed up and headed to Grammi and Grandpa's for Memorial Day/Early Father's Day weekend.  On Saturday, we were able to visit Aunt Miki's chickens and Lucy collected all the eggs.  She thinks all animals want to be her pet.  A painted turtle made it's way into Gram's yard, it was the oddest thing since there isn't water nearby and it's fenced. Lucy sees wild animals and says, "I want it," thinking she can just go pick it up.  The turtle was no exception. I try to explain that they want to stay with their families.

We went to a very wet parade on Monday-Lucy was excited about the suckers.  She did ask if there would be elephants.  Tony took Tuesday off as well so that we could go to the Toledo Zoo.  It was a lot of fun.  I still really love the jelly fish-they look so peaceful.  This year the Nature's Neighborhood was finished and Lucy had so much fun in the "stream."  So did I, what a cool idea.  The baby polar bear was pretty neat, too. All this fun has happened at the expense of the cleanliness of our apartment so hopefully today I'll be able to catch up on the laundry.

The rest of the Zoo pictures.
