Little Noah

I know I have a lot of catch-up to do on the blog, but my baby turned one, and I can't let that go by and get lost in the shuffle.  He has had two birthday parties already and another one this weekend.  He is surely loved.
Noah is a boy of few words.  He will say Mama and Dada but it doesn't seem to have much meaning yet.  He does give kisses and it's very endearing.  He doesn't know how to pucker his lips yet but if I ask him for a kiss he gets a dreamy look on his face and starts leaning in, maybe he does it because he loves me so much, I don't know, but I do know that I love it.  Having a son has allowed me to see parenting in a completely different way, I think probably each new child who enters a family does that.  You have to rethink ideas and find new patterns, keep what works and pitch what doesn't.  Noah has brought a lot of love my way.  He is a very sweet, very happy boy who is just beginning to teach me about mischief.  I'm looking forward to it all.

Ham & Cheese Waffles

I interrupt the scheduled posting about our Utah trip to bring you this delicious recipe.   I couldn't wait to share this with you all.  I made this tonight.  I made the waffles from this recipe, I didn't know that the trick to waffles is leaving the egg whites till the end. I poured just enough batter to cover the waffle iron, sprinkled with chopped ham and shredded cheese, and then flipped and cooked for just over three minutes.  The cheese settled to the bottom and made a cheesy crust...add butter and real maple syrup.  This dinner was divine.  Tony actually said, "if I were on death row, this would be my last breakfast."  He loves breakfast foods so I know he means it.  Yum.  The waffle recipe I used made 6, 7" waffles and the iron needs to be pretty hot.

I first saw the idea in Bon Appetite Magazine

Road Trip!

Don't you love hearing about other peoples' vacations?  Fun, right?  Mom took us on a road trip to Utah!  We had so much fun it will take me a couple posts to cover it all.  The kids were amazing in the car.  Noah was a little grouchy when he got tired (who isn't) but all in all was a traveling super star. Our first major stop (for something other than gas or potty) was in Winter Quarters...I'm having an issue getting the photos off the laptop I took, so until our IT guy in residence looks at it...this is the report of the beginning of the trip...all taken with my phone...
and we're off!  12:30am 7/9/12

I love the Fourth of July

I love the Fourth of July!
I love having a holiday that is full of fun but also relaxing.
We went to our favorite firework watching spot and played with glow sticks.  Noah was a little afraid of the fireworks at first and whimpered for a while but then got used to them and was clapping by the end.  The Fireworks were the best I've seen in years.

The next day included the parade, BBQ/pool party and celebrating Spencer's NINTH birthday!!!
We were all exhausted by the end of the day, I was glad the fireworks were the night before.             It was such a great Summer day.

I love my Bubbadubber...a post about Noah

Dancing at Music in the Park
The nickname that's stuck with Noah is "Bubba."
He is 11 months old.
He has 10 teeth.
He crawls like a pro.
He loves being silly, taking a bath, tasting everything, bottles :(, and dancing.
He is always on the move.

I didn't think I knew how to be a "boy" mom.  I feel like there is a much greater learning curve than there was with Lu, I'm glad we can be patient with each other.  I'm worried about the future but also excited.  He is my little morning sprite, usually up with me at 7:30, while (if she gets the chance) Lu would sleep until 9:30...just like her dad.

I'm trying hard not to compare and just take it all in as it comes and enjoy Noah's smiles, giggles and (usually) easy going nature.
